Job Description:
Conduct deep-dive research and prepare strategic analyses on emerging trends across the global energy landscape, including cutting-edge technologies, policy developments, and macroeconomic forces
Support consulting and advisory engagements by developing client-ready deliverables, synthesizing insights, and contributing to the development of strategic recommendations for energy companies and institutional partners
Track market activity, startup performance, and sector benchmarks to support portfolio construction and investment thesis development
Contribute to thought leadership content, including presentations, white papers, and proprietary frameworks used in government, client, and investor interactions
Support existing investments, including internal reporting, business development opportunities, investor relations, and follow-on transactions
Monitor and manage the firm’s investment pipeline, including inbound and outbound sourcing, diligence tracking, and CRM/database upkeep
Manage initial due diligence efforts including competitive analysis, business model review, and detailed financial modeling
Source and evaluate early-stage startups developing transformative energy and industrial technologies through market mapping, founder calls, and initial screening
Build and maintain relationships with entrepreneurs, incubators, academic institutions, and other investors in the energy innovation ecosystem
Participate in founder meetings, take diligence notes, and present investment memos to the investment committee
Drive cross-functional projects that span Veriten’s research, investment, and advisory work, contributing to the firm’s broader mission
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance or a relevant field
1–3 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, venture capital, private equity, energy research, high-growth startup, or a related field. Demonstrated success in an analytical and strategic role is essential
Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment with limited supervision
Outstanding analytical skills, detail-oriented, proactive and self-motivated with ability to articulate ideas in a group setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Skillful and effective decision making, time management, and organizational skills
Self-starter personality with exceptional work ethic and uncompromising personal integrity
Strong foundation of finance and accounting and familiarity with investment due diligence process. Experience with financial modeling and valuation is highly valued
Experience working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments with shifting priorities and multiple stakeholders is preferred
Familiarity with startup ecosystems and/or early-stage investing is preferred but not required
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is required; experience with PitchBook and FactSet are a plus
