Principal Mechanical Engineer – Robotics & Industrial Automation

Location: San Jose, CA Full-Time Exempt

Are you a hands-on engineering leader ready to drive innovation in robotics and industrial automation? We’re looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and development of complex electro-mechanical systems—from concept through production launch.

In this senior role, you’ll oversee cross-functional engineering efforts, manage project timelines and budgets, and serve as the technical point of contact for client engagements. Ideal candidates bring deep expertise in robotic systems, strong project leadership, and a passion for building next-generation automation solutions.

What You’ll Do:

Lead full product development cycles

Drive collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and industrial design teams

Own project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management

Serve as the primary technical liaison for clients throughout the project lifecycle

Ensure high-quality documentation and adherence to design control and quality processes

Support proposal development and contribute to strategic project planning

What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred)

8+ years of experience in electro-mechanical product development, preferably in robotics or industrial automation

Demonstrated success leading multi-disciplinary projects from concept to production

Strong communication and leadership skills, including experience with distributed teams

Proficiency with Microsoft Project or similar tools for schedule and resource management

Familiarity with risk analysis methods (FMEA, hazard analysis) and industry safety certifications (e.g., CE, UL)

Bonus: Experience in ISO 9001/13485 or other quality environments
