Senior Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager

Position Summary:

The Senior EHS Manager is responsible for leading, developing, and continuously improving comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety programs in alignment with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as corporate standards and industry best practices. This role is integral to fostering a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance across all operations, with a strong focus on employee well-being, sustainability, and risk mitigation.

Located in Fremont, CA

Onsite position

6 month contract

Pay: $55-80/hour

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage EHS compliance programs including Industrial Hygiene, Chemical Safety, Process Safety, Ergonomics, Hazard Communication, Biosafety, PPE, and general workplace safety.

Oversee compliance in areas such as Hot Work, Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO), Confined Space Entry, and OSHA recordkeeping.

Serve as the Biological Safety Officer and manage Emergency Response Teams, including Emergency Evacuation personnel.

Develop, implement, and enhance site-specific environmental programs such as Air Emissions/Refrigerant Management, Wastewater Treatment, Groundwater Protection, Waste Management, Environmental Remediation, and Community Right-to-Know Reporting.

Drive the adoption of a safety-first and sustainability culture through outreach activities, internal communications, and collaboration with senior leadership.

Act as an EHS business partner, providing dedicated support to operational units, identifying and resolving EHS concerns, and facilitating clear communication across teams.

Develop and manage site EHS Management Systems, ensuring they meet or exceed regulatory and corporate requirements.

Lead or support internal inspections, audits, and incident investigations.

Respond to emergencies and participate in emergency response and crisis management initiatives.

Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor on EHS technical and compliance topics.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, Environmental, Occupational Health, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

8–10 years of experience in EHS within an operational/industrial facility, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience managing complex EHS programs.

Proven experience leading EHS projects and initiatives with cross-functional teams.

Strong working knowledge of applicable EHS regulations and best practices.

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement EHS management systems and continuous improvement strategies.

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.

Ability to occasionally work off-shift hours and participate in physically demanding emergency response activities (must be able to lift up to 35 lbs).
