Equity Construction Solutions (ECS) is a Central Ohio-based general contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial construction projects. As a builder first, we offer comprehensive services including preconstruction, design-build, construction management, and Owner’s Representative support. In addition to third-party construction, ECS also leads projects developed by our affiliate, Equity Commercial Real Estate Solutions. Our experienced team brings deep expertise across a diverse range of sectors, including healthcare, K-12 education, public sector, retail, restaurants, senior living, mixed-use/hospitality, and corporate office developments.
The Construction Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. This role involves analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. The estimator collaborates with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop pricing and budgeting for bids and proposals. This role reports to the Director of Estimating.
What are the Key Objectives:
Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop accurate cost estimates.
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
Perform quantity take-offs and cost analysis for labor, materials, and equipment.
Develop and maintain unit cost databases.
Collaborate with project management and field teams to ensure estimates align with project execution.
Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and project risks.
Prepare detailed bid proposals and present them to leadership and clients.
Maintain organized records of past estimates and actual project costs for future benchmarking.
What You Offer:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in estimating or a related construction role.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, ProEst, PlanSwift, or similar).
Strong analytical and math skills.
Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
Understanding of construction means, methods, and materials.
