Graduate Assistant
Department of Student Life
The Graduate Assistant for the Student Life Department supports the Dean of Students in delivering high-quality, student-centered services and programs. This position plays a key role in the coordination and assessment of the First Year Experience (FYE) Program, New Student Orientation, and Student Life events. The GA also provides administrative support at the Student Life front desk and engages students through digital platforms.
This role requires strong administrative and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming campus environment.
Essential Responsibilities
Provide administrative and programmatic support to the Dean of Students and Director of Community Life.
Support the development, coordination, staffing, and evaluation of FYE programming, First Year Seminars, and New Student Orientation.
Assist with Student Life front desk coverage, email, Teams, and phone communications.
Manage and create marketing content for Cairn’s mobile app and the @cairnulife social media platforms.
Conduct outreach to at-risk students flagged through the early alert system and connect them to appropriate resources.
Support planning, promotion, and execution of Student Life events and initiatives.
Collaborate on marketing strategies for retention and first-year engagement.
Research national best practices related to first-year student transition and retention and provide recommendations for program enhancement.

Required Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Enrollment as a full-time graduate student at Cairn University.
No prior professional experience required, though demonstrated leadership and strong academic performance are expected.
