St. Joseph School has 450 students (pre-K through 8th grade), with average class sizes of 22, in the north Oakland County town of Lake Orion. St. Joseph is a parish school that has been offering a Catholic education since 1952. We pride ourselves on our family atmosphere, emphasis on faith, and high academic standards.
We seek an enthusiastic, caring, and Christ-centered individual to coordinate the school's food service/lunch program. An ideal candidate would possess a desire to work with children, a servant attitude, a pleasant demeanor, and reliability.
POSITION GOALS:
The food service worker will support the Mission Statement of the school and will integrate the philosophy into all actions. The food service worker will maintain standards and moral values consistent with the Catholic faith; sharing faith through word and action is essential. The food service worker will establish a positive environment, which will include building community and maintaining effective communication with colleagues, families and students. The food service worker will provide students with a nutritional food service program that will enhance their learning and behavior. The food service worker assumes responsibility for preparing and serving attractive, quality foods in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, cooperation, and friendliness and in a manner that maintains food safety and sanitation requirements.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promotes Christian values and behaviors
Establishes, manages and maintains procedures, routines, rules and standards of student behavior
Maintains a safe and clean cafeteria environment
Selects and orders food, supplies and equipment
Maintain food service license through County Health Department
Food Preparation Duties
Completes food preparation in designed work areas.
Operates food service equipment in a safe and efficient manner
Maintains a clean and orderly workstation
Maintains records of foods prepared, used, leftover, discarded, and records the information on the appropriate forms
Follows standards of food safety in preparing and storing foods. Dates new items received and rotates existing stock to insure that it is used first.
Assists in conducting food, supply, and equipment inventories
Cleans and sanitizes work areas and equipment
Meal Service Duties
Serves correct portions of food in specified dishes using standardized portion utensils
Practices good customer relations behaviors (speaking, smiling, and being solicitous and responsive to both students and staff)
Reports student discipline problems to the appropriate school staff member
Cleans and sanitizes assigned service areas before, during, and after meal
