We are seeking a CAD Field Technician to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This position performs a variety of technical engineering-related office and field tasks involved in the planning, design, and construction of power utility systems.

Responsibilities:

Produces construction drawings, maps, diagrams, and reports as needed using AutoCAD, ESRI, & MS Office software

Site visits for construction staking of power utility transmission and distribution line projects

Field inspection of power utility construction projects

Performs field mapping services utilizing GPS devices on overhead & underground lines and equipment

Performs field inventory of joint-use attachments to utility poles

Preparation of construction drawings for substation, transmission and distribution line projects

Assistance with permitting for power utility construction projects

Operate and maintain company vehicles Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent

An Associate's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Geography, GIS, or related discipline or equivalent experience in a similar position is preferred

Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications

0-4 years or more familiarity with utility infrastructure and mapping systems, including ESRI-based products

Must be able to understand mapping terminology, survey, and GIS concepts

Must be able to operate, maintain, and protect expensive survey equipment, including GPS units, laser range finders, and electronic transits

Capable of working primarily in an outdoor work environment and office environment

Must be able to carry up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 80 lbs. occasionally with or without an accommodation, sometimes over substantial distances
