Position: Process Engineer II
Location: Headquarters - Moon Township, PA

Hours of work: Mondays - Fridays, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, 40 Hours/Week - Expected to work outside of normal hours at times to support 24 hr/day plant operation and for occasional offsite assignments (including 30% travel with concentrated periods of higher travel)
The Process Engineer II provides process engineering technical support to Operations, Maintenance, and various Corporate departments. The Process Engineer II is responsible for a variety of engineering activities that include supporting senior engineering staff in identification of plant improvement projects, support of plant capital projects, technical support to production teams, support with technical regulatory issues, and development/presentation of technical training.
The Process Engineer II is responsible for exercising autonomous judgment to carry out delgated tasks, with less supervision than the Process Engineer I role. The Process Engineer II uses superior communication skills to clearly convey problems, their importance, and to suggest potential resolutions.
The Process Engineer II will travel to remote plant locations and develop relationships with plant personnel to understand their situations and technical needs. The Process Engineer II travels and interacts with consultants and suppliers as necessary to ensure the company's interests are represented during equipment selection and external design efforts.
The Process Engineer II requires an ability to interpret on a broad basis, principles, theories, and concepts of the chemical engineering specialty, while understanding and learning the principles of other engineering disciplines and their relevance to the production environment.
Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)
Provides engineering support to production plants as assigned
Travels to facilities regularly to understand their processes and engineering needs
Maintains good relationships with plant managers and operational and maintenance staff
Actively seeks opportunities to identify improvements in process economy, efficiency, and production rates
Identifies and develops process improvement opportunities under direction from senior engineering staff and plant management
Independently seeks out opportunities for improvements in production technology and efficiency
Identifies and clearly communicates the costs and benefits of proposed actions
Participates in the design, installation and start-up of new projects at the plant
Provides process engineering support to various manufacturing sites
Develops a high level of technical proficiency in the manufacture of activated carbon and stays current with chemical engineering skills
Seeks opportunities for training in new technologies and technical career development
Refines proficiency in the use of process modeling and data analysis tools
Develops proficiency in the use of process modeling software, spreadsheets, data collection and analysis packages, and other software tools in support of other goals
Develops and maintains spreadsheet and other software tools for the Technical Group
Uses a proactive and "hands-on" attitude and develops the capability of quickly understanding the workings of production processes and applying that understanding to solve problems as they present themselves, effectively communicating these with peers and superiors
Provides support to Facilities Engineering to develop and execute new projects
Develops process flow diagrams, conceptual material and energy balances, and draft P&IDs to support the development of business cases and capital appropriation requests for new projects
Performs basic economic analysis of proposed projects and considers alternatives under management direction
Works with outside engineering groups to guide their efforts, answer technical questions, and ensure technical correctness and viability of solutions proposed by contract engineering firms Qualifications
Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or equivalent from four-year college or university is required
1-2 years of hands-on experience in a plant/manufacturing environment, internship/co-op acceptable is required
3-5 years experience, including manufacturing development/optimization experience is required
Active participation in activities that require mechanical aptitude, familiarity with tools and the inner workings of mechanical devices is preferred
Knowledge of computer systems; hobby programming is preferred
