POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Engineer (PE) is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent with the administration of contracts to facilitate project completion. PE is the primary point of contact for the project team for quality control and document control. The PE assists the project manager (PM) in cost and schedule control; the PE assists the superintendent in safety control. PE liaises with the design team and owner to maintain clear paths of communication and a complete project record. In addition to active project responsibilities, the PE contributes to preconstruction efforts on prospective projects
Key Competencies:
Management of quality control
Preparation of submittal logs and schedules
Review of shop drawings and product submittals
Coordination of submittals between the various trades
Conduct preparatory meetings prior to the start of each trade contractors work
Facilitate and document initial inspections of each trade contractors work
Facilitate and document follow-up inspections of each trade contractors work
Facilitate testing, inspection and quality assurance requirements
Manage and document the punchlist process
Management of document control
Take, catalog, and store photo and video documentation of project progress
Prepare agendas and meeting minutes for all project meetings
Update, log and distribute all drawing and specification modifications
Assist the PM in the preparation of monthly reports
Prepare, submit, and receive approval of closeout documents
Cost control
Assist PM in administering the change management system
Distribute change documentation
Prepare takeoffs and develop anticipated budgets
Solicit pricing from subcontractors and vendors
Prepare change proposals
Schedule control
Assist PM and superintendent in managing the project schedule
Gather subcontractor input in establishing the baseline schedule
Coordinate the project schedule with anticipated fabrication and delivery times
Maintain logs and records
Status progress for schedule updates
Prepare, conduct and provide minutes on all coordination meetings
Assist superintendent in safety inspections and documentation
Preconstruction
Solicit prospective bidders
Prepare quantity takeoffs
Prepare constructability reviews
Plan site logistics and phasing plans
Prepare scope sheets and receive pricing
Tabulate bids and prepare post bid paperwork
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture
Zero to three years of experience and/or training in the construction field
Computer Skills
Proficient personal computer skills including e-mail, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Bluebeam, etc.
Knowledge of or experience with project management software, scheduling software, and estimating software
