Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Analyst to join our team in Edgewood, Maryland. In this role, you will oversee payroll processing, compliance, and reporting while ensuring accuracy and adherence to applicable laws and regulations. You will also play a key role in system administration, audits, and fostering collaboration across departments such as HR, Accounting, and Benefits.
Responsibilities:
• Process payroll accurately and on time, including collecting, calculating, auditing, and entering data into the system.
• Verify timesheets and collaborate with payroll vendors to ensure smooth payroll transmission and processing.
• Maintain and update payroll records to reflect changes in wages, deductions, retroactive pay, and employee status.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal employment laws, including preparing and filing tax ID applications when necessary.
• Manage end-of-year payroll activities, including W-2 reporting, fringe benefits, and compensation adjustments.
• Generate and analyze payroll reports, supporting accounting teams with tax filings and year-end reconciliations.
• Conduct regular audits on leave balances, accruals, and workers' compensation, as well as prepare documentation for pension and 401(k) audits.
• Administer payroll systems and ensure data accuracy, including mapping earnings and deductions to appropriate general ledger accounts.
• Maintain confidential employee records and provide timely communications regarding payroll matters.
• Partner with third-party vendors to manage updates related to employee benefits and ensure seamless processing.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll administration, including multi-state payroll processing.
• Proficiency in payroll systems such as UltiPro and UKG Pro, with strong HRIS system administration skills.
• In-depth knowledge of employment laws, tax compliance, and year-end payroll activities.
• Certified Payroll designation is highly preferred.
• Expertise in managing vendor relationships and coordinating with third-party providers.
• Strong experience with general ledger reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to handle audits, including year-end reconciliations and pension plan reviews.
• Familiarity with bi-weekly, and full-cycle payroll processes.
