Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our client's team on the Southeast side of Indianapolis. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic construction environment, supporting financial operations for a company actively involved in major highway projects. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with the Controller to analyze and report on the financial status of construction contracts, including progress, risks, and backlog forecasting.
• Manage monthly financial close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Oversee job costing and project accounting to support financial planning and decision-making.
• Prepare detailed project billings for both public and private sector work.
• Conduct inventory management and reporting to maintain accurate financial records.
• Complete prequalification reports and other documentation required for project bidding and compliance.
• Assist with year-end audits, coordinating with external auditors to ensure smooth processes.
• Provide insight and support for lease accounting and fixed asset management.• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or successful completion of the CPA exam.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in public accounting, with a strong understanding of construction accounting practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software such as Viewpoint Spectrum.
• Solid knowledge of general ledger functions, including account reconciliation, journal entries, and fixed asset accounting.
• Experience in lease accounting and inventory accounting is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and external partners.
