Job Title: Material Handler

Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for executing physical tasks associated with receiving, staging, returning, shipping, storage, destruction, and inventory management of products, materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This role involves unpacking and checking materials received against purchase orders or invoices, maintaining records of received materials, and rejecting unsatisfactory items according to procedural requirements. Additionally, the Material Handler picks and stages materials for production work orders and packs materials for shipment. The role also includes performing cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of materials, while adhering to good documentation practices as defined by PCI.

Responsibilities

Receive, stage, return, ship, store, destroy, and manage inventory of products and materials.

Unpack and check materials received against purchase orders or invoices.

Maintain records of received materials and reject unsatisfactory items.

Pick and stage materials for production work orders.

Pack materials for shipment.

Perform cycle counts, item verification, consolidation, and transfer of materials.

Adhere to good documentation practices as defined by PCI.Essential Skills

Experience in shipping and receiving.

Proficiency with pallet jack and forklift operation.

Competency in using RF scanners for inventory control.

Ability to work independently and self-start.

Computer skills including working with Excel and Smart Sheets.

Preparedness to work in cold room environments.Additional Skills & Qualifications

Previous experience with ERP systems.

Knowledge of GDP (Good Documentation Practices).

Experience working in environments requiring minimal supervision.

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs independently.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The work schedule is from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with sporadic overtime related to shipping activities. Overtime is voluntary, typically extending an hour during the week, and occasional Saturday work is also voluntary. The role requires working in cold rooms at temperatures of -20 degrees, involving opening large freezers and packing out shipments from coolers. The minimum lifting requirement is 20 lbs, with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs independently. The environment includes a new large warehouse facility with potential future work at Otay Mesa.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, California.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
