Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Application Support Manager to lead the support and maintenance of enterprise applications, with a strong focus on SAP BusinessObjects (SAP BO) and other general business systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SQL and a proven ability to manage cross-functional support initiatives. Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the application support function across core business applications, including SAP BO and other enterprise tools.
Serve as the escalation point for complex application issues, coordinating with internal teams and third-party vendors.
Drive root cause analysis and implement preventative measures for recurring incidents.
Oversee and optimize SQL queries and database interactions to ensure application performance.
Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide solutions, and improve application usage and functionality.
Maintain application documentation, knowledge bases, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Manage a small team or collaborate with offshore/onshore resources, as applicable.
Participate in system upgrades, patching, and change management processes.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and data governance standards, especially within a life sciences environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
5+ years of experience in application support, including at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
Expertise in SQL – ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries.
Strong knowledge of SAP BusinessObjects – administration, report creation, and troubleshooting.
Experience supporting enterprise applications in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment is highly preferred.
Familiarity with validation and compliance processes (e.g., GxP, 21 CFR Part 11) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience with ITIL practices and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira.
Project management experience and the ability to lead initiatives across multiple departments.
Exposure to cloud-based application environments (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
