POSITION DETAILS:
Exempt; full-time; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; full-benefits
This professional position will seek and develop work opportunities for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities for the Scott Key Center of Frederick County while adhering to Employment First and CMS final ruling objectives. Responsibilities include the preparation, implementation and evaluation of specific vocational training. This position must be willing to be flexible with job assignments to meet the specific needs of the program. Supervision is received from the Director.
NOTE: The upper pay range reflects possible wage rates for internal County transfers and promotions, which are calculated per County policy. For external hires, offers are made at the base wage rate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Implement the Discovery process with individuals interested in employment
Work closely with businesses to develop job opportunities for people supported by SKC
Complete Customized Plan for Employment for people interested in becoming employed
Provide employment readiness training for people supported by SKC
Ensure quality assurance and active problem solving of job placements
Attend regional and local networking meetings
Participate in the Individual Plan process and assist in the development of Individual Plans
Analyze job tasks to develop training programs
Provide job training and job coaching as necessary
Assist workers in their relationships with employers and co-workers
Maintain daily records and data as required
Provide and complete the necessary documentation for quarterly reports, and other reports as needed
Perform other duties as assigned
Other Job Duties:
Participate in staff meetings and in-service training sessions
Provide transportation to work sites
Utilize behavior management techniques support people in their lives
Perform other related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
The qualifications/requirements, knowledge/skills/abilities and physical requirements or working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Bachelor's degree closely related to human services or vocational rehabilitation
Minimum 3 years of related experience in an employment program (or another closely related program) for persons with developmental disabilities
Possession of a valid automobile operator's license with ability to obtain a Frederick County Employee Driving Permit
Current certification in First Aid and CPR, or ability to obtain same within 90 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained during tenure of employment)
NOTE: Additional related work experience may substitute for a portion of the education requirement
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Ability to maintain County Authorized Driver privileges
Ability to effectively initiate programs and activities and to provide active leadership and motivation for persons with developmental disabilities, with in-depth perception of client/employer needs and priorities
Ability to effectively access and utilize computerized systems and equipment (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, email)
Ability to develop and maintain effective, objective working relationships with people SKC supports, co-workers, employers and the general public
Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear, concise reports
PREFERENCE MAY BE GIVEN FOR:
Current certification in Job Development or Discovery
Current Certified Employment Support Professional certification
Experience performing job development duties such as coordinating services with employers, working with individuals on job-readiness skills, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT / WORKING CONDITIONS:
While working in this position, the employee is frequently sitting, driving, and walking; occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing over 40 pounds, pulling over 40 pounds reaching, and performing repetitive motions.
While working in this position, the employee is frequently exposed to potential to infectious diseases; occasionally working indoors, working outdoors, working in a noisy environment, and required to wear protective equipment; and rarely walking on uneven ground.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / EXAMINATION PROCESS
Willingness to obtain Medication Monitor certification from the Maryland Department of Health, Developmental Disabilities Administration
Ability to work varied working hours for special activities, meetings, programs, etc.
This position is subject to random drug testing
