So What (Exactly) does a Shipping Associate do?
Shipping Associates use various tools and vehicles (e.g., pallet jack, fork lift) to receive and unload incoming raw material from trucks, and load outgoing product. Shipping Associates also have some material handling responsibilities - As a regular part of their job, they partner closely with various positions throughout the warehouse picking up and delivering materials. Shipping Associates work closely with BKI’s maintenance, supervisors and other team members to ensure we’re delivering high quality fabrics to delight our customers.
What you’ll do:
Coordinate with the Shipping Manager on daily shipments and activities
Ensure transfers are completed in a timely manner
Ensure freight carriers are loaded and unloaded as required
Utilize shipping resources (materials and equipment) for optimum department effectiveness
Maintain accurate inventory and perform key duties during the company’s physical inventories
Wrap/palletize and organize orders based on customer needs by load size and carrier
Inspect trailers prior to loading and secure loads on trailers
Maintain Forklifts and ensure proper charging
Provide backup assistance (and train on new duties) for the shipping manager as needed or directed
Operate company trucks and forklifts according to safety training guidelines
Be on the job on time, making the shift break effective with the leaving shift Inspector(s).
Adhere to break schedule and assure your break partner can handle the task effectively.
Maintain high level of housekeeping essential to the efficient transport of high quality knit fabrics.

What’s required of you:
A valid NC Driver’s license.
Ability to attain in-house certification for operating a fork lift, and to operate company vehicles.
Physical abilities to stand, walk and kneel on concrete floors, climb ladders, move 75 pound rolls and reach above head.
Must be able to tolerate exposure to lint, chemicals and heat in summer months.
Ability to read and write in English
Must comply with all safety, quality and production requirements and instructions.
