Description
MDK, an innovative law firm, is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing engineering team in a collaborative environment. This role is ideal for a leader who excels in driving both the strategic direction and technical execution of scalable and secure software systems. You’ll champion software craftsmanship and work closely with Product Management and business stakeholders to align technology initiatives with business goals. As a leader, you’ll play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring the delivery of impactful solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Development
Lead and manage a collaborative, high-performance engineering team.
Promote team growth by aligning individual development plans with organizational goals and addressing performance challenges when necessary.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement in software engineering practices.
Software Engineering & Architecture
Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable, maintainable, and secure software systems.
Oversee both legacy system support and the development of new technical solutions.
Champion clean code, test-driven development (TDD), and maintainable architecture across all projects.
Project & Program Management
Lead and manage cross-functional projects, ensuring they align with business objectives and are delivered on time and within scope.
Develop and maintain a comprehensive technical roadmap in collaboration with product and leadership teams.
Engage in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban), ensuring timely, high-quality delivery.
Establish and track key project metrics (KPIs), proactively addressing blockers and risks.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with Product Management and business stakeholders to ensure clear communication and alignment on technical initiatives.
Serve as the key liaison between the technical team and internal customers, ensuring customer needs, timelines, and priorities are understood.
Change & Adoption Management
Lead change management strategies for the adoption of new technologies, ensuring smooth transitions for employees.
Requirements:
Must-Have:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Seven+ years of experience in a technical leadership role.
Minimum of three years in an Agile environment.
Five+ years of hands-on full-stack development experience, preferably with Microsoft technologies (.NET, Azure, SQL Server).
Strong project management experience with the ability to create and maintain technical roadmaps.
In-depth understanding of software engineering best practices and clean code principles.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with executives, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
Nice-to-Have:
Experience in legal tech, case management, or highly-regulated industries.
Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or business intelligence applications.
PMP, PMI-ACP, or other relevant certifications.
