Summary

The Department of Biological Sciences at Bowling Green State University seeks an instructor with the background and experience to teach lecture and laboratory sections of anatomy & physiology and general biology. This is a nonrenewable, (one-year) full-time, academic year appointment with a start date of August 2025.

The Department of Biological Science at BGSU offers a full range of graduate programs including master’s and doctoral degree programs (MS in Biology and PhD in Biology), undergraduate major programs in Biology, Microbiology and Neuroscience, and Specializations in Marine and Aquatic Sciences, Ecology and Conservation Biology, Pre-Health Professions, and Forensic Science. Essential Functions

The primary responsibilities of the position are (1) to teach classes in our anatomy and physiology sequence, which could include teaching laboratory sections, and (2) to teach, as needed, classes in introductory biology for majors and non-majors, either of which could include teaching laboratory sections. Providing service to the department, college, or university is also expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s in Biological Sciences or related area (e.g., physiology)

Two semesters of college-level teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant.

Demonstrated background (e.g., courses taken, teaching experience, research) in anatomy and physiology

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences or related area (e.g., physiology)

Two semesters of college-level teaching experience as an instructor of record

Experience coordinating TAs assigned to teaching lab or recitation sections
