JOB OPPORTUNITY

The City of Berkeley is accepting applications for Information Systems Specialist! Positions in this class specialize in installing, configuring, and trouble-shooting computer hardware and software to meet specific departmental or City-wide needs. Incumbents will support computer hardware, software, and peripherals including: PCs, laptops, tablets, printers, mobile phones, and VoIP desk phones. Technical support may be delivered both over the phone through remote desktop software and in person through field visits to any one of our 43 citywide locations. In addition to desktop support, the Network Operations Division is responsible for server and network administration, solutions and enterprise architecture, and network security.

The current vacancy is in the Berkeley Public Library; however, the eligible list established from this recruitment may also be used to fill vacancies in the Information Technology Department before the list expires.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is:

Equivalent to graduation from a four year college and demonstrated ability to develop and modify computer applications at the level described above. Experience in developing computer applications similar to those described above may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

In addition to the qualifications mentioned above, the ideal candidate will possess excellent customer service skills; strong oral and written communication skills; technical competency to troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues in a high-paced environment; and the drive and commitment to continuously learn, grow, and keep up with the constant changes in technology.
