Utilizing advanced methodologies and proprietary in-house tools, BakerRisk® engineers assess the consequences and risks associated with potentially catastrophic events including explosions, fires, and toxic material releases.

The Editorial Services Department ensures editing work is performed efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of technical staff.

BakerRisk® is seeking an Editor to provide document processing support for technical staff. Primary duties involve the editing, proofreading, and formatting of project-related documents according to company standards. Uses established knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint document processing procedures to accomplish routine work. May need occasional supervisory guidance on more complex Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, or SharePoint issues. May assist technical staff with special projects or non-routine editorial support.

This position interfaces with all levels of the organization and provides support to Management, Engineering, and Marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provides copy editing support for a variety of business documents.

Proofreads, reviews, and edits documents using Microsoft Word and other platforms as required.

Corrects/tracks changes in grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors in original copy.

Accurately applies company standards to publish documents according to defined content type (report, letter proposal, presentations, conference papers, Best Practice, journal articles, etc.).

Responsible for accurately processing files in SharePoint according to BakerRisk’s internal document management process.

Has knowledge and experience assisting technical staff with:

Client delivery protocols.

Word formatting or general SharePoint assistance.

Using established company templates for formatting documents.

May be assigned responsibility for specific functional areas within department.

Education and Experience

Requires a college degree.

3-5 years of high-level knowledge of business and/or technical documentation.

Two years of proofreading and/or copy-editing experience with technical documentation.

Required Skills

Strong editing, writing, and grammar skills.

Types at least 65 wpm with accuracy.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Detail-oriented with ability to handle multiple tasks on schedule and with high level of accuracy.

Has strong knowledge of standard concepts, practices, and procedures relating to editing work.

Able to work successfully under tight deadlines and beyond normal business hours when required.

Effective communication skills and ability to work efficiently in a team environment.

Must be proficient in SharePoint concepts used for internal document processing.

Must be proficient in general Internet concepts and usage.
