Position: Special Education Behavior Specialist at Early Childhood Special Education

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. The first teacher duty day is August 25th, with new teacher workshop the week of August 18th.

FTE: 1.0

Salary Range: BA, Step 1 at $46,802/yr to MA, Step 17 at $100,964/yr, depending on education and experience. View salary grid on the respective bargaining unit listed above, accessible via our Master Agreements page

Job Summary:

The Special Education Behavior Specialist plays a critical role in providing support to students with behavioral challenges within the special education framework. This role involves implementing behavior interventions, conducting assessments, collaborating with educators and families, and ensuring compliance with due process procedures. The specialist works to create a positive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education

3 years of experience in special education

Minnesota Department of Education teaching license in Special Education required

Experience working with students with diverse behavioral needs in educational settings.

Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and due process procedures.

Proficiency in conducting behavioral assessments and developing behavior intervention plans.

Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

Ability to adapt intervention strategies based on ongoing data analysis and student progress. Working Conditions:
