ADVANCEMENT INTERN (Hybrid Flexibility):

UMMA's Social Media and Marketing Intern will join the Development team. The ideal applicant will possess strong knowledge of various social media sites. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to website redesign projects, monitoring and posting on blogs and social networks, engaging with patients to assist with Google and Yelp reviews, participating in online outreach and promotion, optimizing our website and conducting keyword analysis. Those looking to gain valuable online media experience within a healthcare setting are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills, working knowledge of Canva, Graphic design, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, detail oriented, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Mac Applications.

Human Resources Intern (Hybrid/Part Time Opportunity):

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Intern to join our team. This internship will provide valuable exposure to core HR functions, including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and HR compliance. You will work closely with our HR team to support day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives. Job duties include:

Support new hire onboarding and orientation processes

Participate in organizing employee engagement activities

Conduct research on HR best practices and contribute to policy development

Assist with administrative tasks and HR projects as needed

Requirements

Excellent oral and written communication skills, detail oriented, working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Excel, ability to type at least 30 wpm and perform basic business arithmetic.

Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in HR or related field or equivalent experience.

FOOD FAIR DISTRIBUTION VOLUNTEER:

This food distribution event hosted by UMMA in partnership with The Los Angeles Neighborhood Land Trust and Food Forward's Wholesale Recovery Program is held every Wednesday in South Los Angeles. At this event we aim to reduce hunger and food disparities in our local community and increase access to fresh fruit and vegetables. Volunteers are assigned various roles such as set-up/breakdown, registration table, assisting partnering organizations with loading boxes, sorting/organizing/cleaning produce, participating in composting efforts, cleaning market equipment, etc. Volunteers should be comfortable standing/walking and carrying boxes up to 40 pounds (Roles assigned according to any personal limitations) Please wear comfortable clothing, closed-toed shoes, and bring any additional items you may need (hats, sunscreen etc.) Individuals, Groups and Organizations welcomed! Need: Every Wednesday 8:30am - 12pm. (John C. Freemont High School every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, Parmelee Elementary School every first Wednesday of the month, Bethune Middle School every 3 Wednesday of the month)

DIABETIC EYE EXAM TECHNICIAN: (Currently Filled)

UMMA is looking for compassionate, detail-oriented volunteers to assist our Diabetic Eye Exam team! We will train serious candidates to use retinal scanning equipment from day one. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience with patients and become an integral part of our care team. Need: Flexible 6 - 8 hours a day / 1 - 3 days a week. New cohort dates TBD.

REFERRAL COORDINATOR:

Work with us to maintain our goal of ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation of referrals to promote Care Team awareness and to continuously ensure our patient's safety. Candidates will contact patients with pending or open referral status, update patient's referral in electronic medical records and confirm any scheduled specialist appointments. This is an excellent opportunity to get direct patient experience and become familiar with the referrals process in an FQHC. (Spanish-speaking preferred) Need: Flexible schedule for 3-4 hrs/day.

DENTAL PATIENT SURVEY:

Volunteers needed to contact patients with 2 or more no-show dental encounters. Volunteers will survey patients to discuss their interest in continuing their Dental care with UMMA and learn what barriers prevent them from keeping scheduled appointments. Volunteers will offer new appointments and inform patients of our no-show policy. All data will be documented to better understand how we can assist in ensuring that patients receive necessary dental care and follow-ups in a timely manner. (Spanish-speaking preferred) Need: Flexible schedule for 2-3 hrs/day.

PATIENT SATISFACTION SURVEY:

Our Quality Improvement department is looking for volunteers to help with conducting surveys that lead to measurable improvement in health care services for our patients. The data collected will help us improve the quality of patient care and identify opportunities for new programs and services. Volunteers with an interest in data analysis can assist our QI manager with identifying problems and implementing, monitoring and studying the effectiveness of corrective action. Volunteers may also be asked to conduct outreach phone calls to patients for preventative screenings. (Spanish-speaking preferred) Need: Flexible schedule for 2-3 hrs/day.
