The Department of Economic Security, Division of Technology Services (DTS) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Lead Applications Developer (SQL Developer). This position is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining different databases, writing complex SQL queries for data retrieval and manipulation. Optimizing database performance and ensuring data integrity. Troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues. Other responsibilities the SQL Developer is responsible for is to maintain and support Microsoft AZURE App services and .NET Framework with AI based applications. This position is also responsible for performing On-Call after hour support when needed.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Diagnose and resolve defects in production environments, prioritizing quick and effective solutions.

Engage with business analysts and stakeholders to understand functional requirements, and contributes to completion of functional specifications.

Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with AZURE App Services based applications.

Write custom SQL Queries based on need.

Performance tunes, reviews and recommends improvements to existing codes.

Develop new cloud native applications to meet functional and technical designs.

Work to analyze, debug, and resolve defects in applications.

Support production systems including analyze and resolve production problems in a timely manner, resolving end user service requests as assigned.

Complete unit and system test application changes to ensure quality of work

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

AZURE SQL

Agile Development Methodology

RESTful APIs

.NET utilizing Visual Studio and C#

AZURE DEVOPS

Multiple programming languages, multiple database management systems, and multiple development platforms

OOP concepts and UI design skills in ASP.NET

Solid understanding of MS SQL Server, including stored procedures, indexing, and triggers

Skills in:

AZURE SQL with advanced query writing and optimization techniques

Exceptional design, coding, testing and debugging skills

Data warehousing and ETL processes

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Data analysis and reporting

Stored procedures optimization

Maintain Microsoft AZURE APP Services based applications

Good business communication skills

Strong leadership skills and ability to mentor and guide junior developers

Ability to:

Work On-Call after hour support when needed

Quickly learn and develop in new programming languages, APIs and platforms, evaluate and test emerging

Work effectively independently or in a group setting

Synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly

Build strong relationships inside and outside the organization

Write technical documentation

Interpret and analyze test results

Use or maintain testing frameworks, test libraries, databases and test environments

Selective Preference(s):

This ideal candidate for this position will have:

Ability to work On-Call after hour support when needed

SQL, web development and analysis experience.

Proficiency with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Any relevant professional certifications.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.

Bachelor’s degree plus 8 or more years of programming and analysis experience (or equivalent experience).

Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
