POSITION SUMMARY

This position directs all employment programming from RAIS throughout the state. This position has a focus on cultural orientation, employment services and job readiness classes. To provide excellent employment opportunities, this position networks with various employers as an avenue for employment pursuits for clients. In addition, this person is responsible for the supervision of staff at the Welcome Center and for the maintenance of the facility. This person is responsible for providing statistics on program activities and tracking/reporting of all grant outcomes and accomplishments. This position may require some evening and weekend hours.

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT

Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services (RAIS) provides a bridge for refugees (individuals who have had to flee their countries of origin due to the tragedies of persecution and war) and other new arrivals from their former life experiences to the new skills required for success in the United States. Through a focus on economic self-sufficiency, community integration, and a respect for unique cultures, history and traditions, RAIS creates an environment of compassion and encouragement for refugees to flourish.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement activities to educate individuals on topics related to employment & their adjustment to life in America.

Implement programs to provide orientation programs for refugee clients.

Manage a diverse team who are located in offices in Anchorage, Wasilla, and Delta Junction.

Oversee all employment data for all three RAIS offices Recruit, train, support, supervise, and evaluate staff. Approve leave requests, authorize timesheets, and handle other personnel actions.

Oversee the facility of the Welcome Center including being responsible for maintenance requests, IT and copier support. Keep the atmosphere of the WC appropriate for the clients utilizing the facility. Keep all technology functioning.

Coordinate with the employment team on the development and implementation of curricula and activities as necessary to develop job skills.

Assist staff with complex problem-solving around clients' needs.

Outreach to new employer contacts and maintain relationships with employers currently connected to the program.

Conduct ongoing monitoring of employed clients and mediate employer client relations.

Complete documentation of all meetings with clients and work related to clients thoroughly, accurately and in a timely fashion. Prepare reports for RAIS records as required.

Coordinate data collection, report generation and documentation for program outcomes, including the required data for the Office of Refugee Resettlement.

Provide information for monthly/quarterly statistical and narrative program reports.

Update, maintain, and provide accurate employment data for Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) reports including the ORR-6 and the AOGP. Regularly pull reports in the Apricot database to ensure that all data is being collected.

Assist in crisis intervention as necessary, obtaining police, medical, psychiatric, or other emergency services for client(s), as appropriate, and applying CPR techniques when appropriate.

Manage client confidentiality; handle sensitive personal information.

Represents the program to outside agencies as designated by Program Director.

Support special initiatives within the program (change management, quality improvement, reporting, presentations, etc.).

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, business, or a related field. Four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the education requirement.

Minimum Experience Requirement: Two (2) years of experience working in health or human services required, preferably in a non-profit or state agency. Experience must include at least one (1) years of supervisory experience.

A relevant combination of education and experience may be considered.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Physical demands: Work is performed in a standard indoor office environment. Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Frequently sitting or standing at a desk for several hours at a time.

Travel: Frequent travel within Anchorage is required. Occasional travel to Wasilla office.
