Direct Support Professional (Non-Behavioral and Non-Aggressive Behavioral): Residential Services

Top Achieving DSPs at Life Opportunities Unlimited CAN make over $70,000 per year with overtime.

Hiring Full-time, Part-time, and Per Diem for shifts:

Friday & Saturday 11PM-7AM

Sunday - Thursday 11PM-9AM

Monday - Sunday 3PM-11PM

Saturday & Sunday 7AM-3PM

Start working to make a difference…. Life Opportunities Unlimited (LOU) is a premier boutique human service agency providing both residential and day program services for adults with developmental disabilities in Northern New Jersey.

LOU is located in Ridgewood with programs in Northwest Bergen County: Allendale, Fair Lawn, Glen Rock, Haledon, Midland Park, Ridgewood, Township of Washington, and Waldwick. All of our locations are approximately 15 minutes from Passaic & Rockland Counties.

LOU’s Residential and Day Programs are conveniently located nearby NJ Transit, Bus Routes and Train Stations.

Core Functions:

Maintain the residential household to a high standard: house cleaning, coordinate shopping lists, shopping, preparing meals, and promptly reporting any housing issues to management

Treat all clients with dignity and respect

Responsibilities:

Drive clients safely and efficiently to and from activities

Assist in all areas where clients may require support, including but not limited to:

Provide assistance in personal hygiene care

Proper administration of medication in accordance with training and procedures

Write clear and concise progress notes

Ensure ongoing implementation of ISP outcomes

Follow through on any and all established behavior plans

Active participation and guidance in recreational activities

Implement activities that encourage personal growth and new skill development

Advocate for clients’ self-expression and communication

Manage a safe and nurturing environment in our group homes that allows them to grow and be their best selves

Work directly under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services

Attend all departmental staff meetings, company events, and organization-provided training sessions

Cooperate with the licensee and Department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation

This role must complete all responsibilities required and deemed applicable by the Director of Residential Services as it pertains to the Residential Services and our clients’ well-being.

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent

Posses a full valid New Jersey Driver’s License Non-Probationary with no restrictions

Must be 18 years or older

Preferred, but not required: Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA), Personal Care Aide (PCA), Patient Care Tech (PCT), Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Preferred, but not required: Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

Proven professional written and verbal communication skills

Adequate computer skills and problem-solving skills

Must be able to successfully complete all NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities mandated training within the required time frame

The requirements for checks of Criminal Background, the Central Registry, the Child Abuse Registry, and Drug Testing must be completed prior to working with any clients in the Day Program or Residential Program
