Human Resources Generalist

PURPOSE OF POSITION

This position will work directly with the Human Resources Manager on all human resource activities including recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, and enforcing company policies and practices with a focus on our facilities located in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Montana.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruit, interview, and facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

Build community connections with high schools, colleges, vocational rehabilitation divisions and other organizations that support the recruitment of qualified candidates.

Handle all administrative tasks for facility onboarding, new hire orientation, and exit interviews, including entering data into HR information systems and auditing for accuracy and compliance for all employees.

Identify and organize community engagement activities.

Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to benefits, compensation, disciplinary matters, disputes, investigations, performance, and talent management.

Work with the Human Resources Manager on various HR related projects.

Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes, etc.

Maintains accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation for employees.

Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, and talent management.

Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Assists with planning and execution of special events such as benefits enrollment, employee recognition events, team building activities, holiday parties, birthday, and anniversary recognitions.

Schedule and participate in hourly reviews for facility employees.

Assist with the design and development of training programs for facility employees.

Perform other duties as assigned.

TRAVEL REQUIRMENTS

Weekly travel to our Hillsboro, Buffalo, and East Grand Forks facilities as needed.

Overnight trips (1 to 2 nights) within Minnesota, Wisconsin and Indiana may be required periodically.

Company vehicle available for travel.

Must have valid driver’s license and personal car insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

2+ years of experience in human resources.

2+ years of experience in recruitment preferred.

SHRM-CP or PHR a plus.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.

Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn ADP the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

This job operates within a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee may be required to stand for long periods of time as well as use hands or fingers to reach or handle, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. All vision abilities are required to encompass close-up work. On occasion, employee must be able to tolerate and endure extended seasonal hours and maintain alertness to meet deadlines.

Occasionally while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to machinery and moving parts, airborne particles including grain dust and hazardous materials or fumes, which may require the use of PPE. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, extended seasonal hours, high precarious places, and confined spaces. The noise level in some of the work environments may require the use of hearing protection.
