ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Construction-Focused Project Manager, you will lead the planning and execution of integrated warehouse system projects across the Mid-West region. From automation and conveyor systems to racking and mezzanines, you"ll manage multi-million-dollar construction and facility installations projects that empower our clients to maximize efficiency and throughput. This role blends construction project leadership with engineering & system integration expertise to deliver complete turnkey solutions for our clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Leadership & Execution
*Manage ground-up and retrofit construction projects for warehouse systems-racking, conveyors, mezzanines, fencing, and electrical integration.
*Oversee full project lifecycles from planning through closeout, including permitting, phasing, scheduling, and coordination with general contractors.
*Conduct regular site visits to verify progress and safety compliance-owning the 'trust but verify' mindset.
*Set clear expectations and drive milestone completion across vendors, trades, and internal teams.
Construction & Site Coordination
*Supervise subcontractors, installers, and vendors across multiple job sites.
*Coordinate site readiness, staging plans, and utility requirements.
*Collaborate with CAD designers and field technicians to ensure site conditions align with drawing sets and engineered designs.
*Proactively identify and mitigate risks such as scope creep, timeline delays, or change order impacts.
Planning, Documentation & Logistics
*Manage installation plans, phase schedules, and site drawings.
*Lead daily communication with customers and internal teams to align on status, dependencies, and goals.
*Maintain project documentation including RFIs, change orders, safety logs, and daily reports.
*Oversee shipping, receiving, and installation sequencing for equipment and materials.
Job Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS
*Associate's or Bachelor"s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business Administration or related field (preferred)
*Construction Background: 3-5+ years of experience in construction management or construction-focused project management, preferably projects involving warehouse or material handling infrastructure & equipment - racking & shelving, conveyor, mezzanines, warehouse automation systems & infrastructure highly preferred
*Project Management : Proven success managing multi-million-dollar projects, installations and multi-disciplinary teams.
*Leadership: Strong decision-maker with the ability to lead, influence, and solve problems in dynamic environments.
*On-Site Leadership: Comfortable managing multiple active job sites, subcontractors, and install crews; hands-on approach to problem solving and issue resolution.
*Travel-Ready: Willing and able to travel 80%+ to job sites across the U.S.
*Technical Aptitude: Ability to read blueprints, interpret CAD plans, and understand the construction and integration of warehouse systems.
*Strong Communication: Skilled in leading meetings, documenting project progress, and managing customer relationships.
*OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
*Experience with AutoCAD, Procore, MS Project, or other construction/project management tools
