Job Description

Job Summary:

The Electrical Spotter is responsible for ensuring the safe operation of equipment and personnel near live electrical infrastructure, including overhead and underground power lines. The role involves constant vigilance, communication, and hazard identification to prevent contact with electrical sources and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Observe and monitor work activities near electrical hazards, including overhead and underground power lines.

Provide clear and timely instructions to operators of machinery (e.g., cranes, excavators) to maintain minimum safe approach distances.

Identify and assess electrical hazards in the work area and communicate risks effectively to all relevant personnel.

Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company procedures, and legislative requirements.

Maintain visual contact with equipment and workers at all times while spotting.

Stop work immediately if a hazardous situation arises or safe practices are not being followed.

Assist with site safety inductions and tool-box talks related to electrical safety.

Complete safety documentation, such as spotter checklists and risk assessments.

Qualifications and Skills:

Knowledge of safe work practices around electricity.

Strong communication and situational awareness skills.

Ability to remain focused for extended periods and work in outdoor environments.

Physically fit and able to stand or walk for long periods.

Work Environment:

Outdoor construction and infrastructure sites.

Exposure to noise, dust, and various weather conditions.

Requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Company Description
