Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plans, organizes, and participates in developing and implementing a comprehensive employee health and safety program, including industrial safety, occupational health and safety, fire protection, traffic safety, hazardous materials, and environmental hazard abatement, to ensure compliance with the District’s safety policies and all federal and state laws and regulations for employee occupational health and safety.
Develops, recommends, and implements policies, procedures, and programs to comply with regulatory requirements and to reduce incidents of employee accidents and injuries; advises District management on design and implementation of safety programs and ensures compliance through review of accident reports, field visits, and safety committee reports and suggestions.
Develops and delivers safety training programs to managers, supervisors, and employees; coordinates and conducts safety meetings with departments and the Safety Committee.
Conducts special and periodic inspections of District facilities and operations to identify safety hazards; issues reports of hazards and required abatements; responds to the scene of employee personal injury accidents; prepares required reports on employee accidents and accident trends.
Participates in incident investigation for hazardous materials release.
Evaluates employee accident and injury reports, recommends remedial action and follow-ups to ensure action is taken; responds to employee and manager questions regarding safe work practices and environmental hazards.
Evaluates operating procedures of high-risk areas; identifies areas and makes recommendations for improvements; implements recommendations and monitors effectiveness; identifies gaps in programs, audit/inspections, and agency performance reviews (e.g., bi-annual risk assessment).
Prepares or advises on the development of specifications for the purchase of safety equipment; periodically checks the operation or use of safety equipment to ensure conformance with District expectations.
Provides technical consultations on safety requirements such as regulations, safety analyses, and recommended actions.
Lead the safety team on job sites and ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Perform all services appropriate to the position, having a similar nature to positions in companies of similar operational and financial conditions in similar industries, and such other services as may reasonably be assigned by the company.
Minimum Qualifications
Eligible to work in the U.S
Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Osha 500 or above
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and members of the business community.
Possess excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Working Environment & Physical Activities:
This position will be working primarily indoors. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
· BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time while performing the essential functions. Also required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and potentially crawl.
· BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to fingers, to grasp and lift, handle, and feel objects such as computer equipment. The ability to bend the body, reach for objects, and to crouch when needed are also required.
BODY SENSES: The employee must have the ability and command of sight, hearing, and touch. Specific vision abilities required include a vision for color, peripheral, close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. These vision requirements in each area must be sufficient to perform the functions of this job.
