Job Description

The Assistant Director of Advancement (“Assistant Director”) plays a pivotal role in the growth and success of the Ellis Fund, working in close collaboration with the Director of Advancement and Alumnae Engagement and the entire Advancement Office. The Assistant Director is responsible for expanding the donor base, fostering engagement across all constituencies, and building lasting relationships with supporters of The Ellis School. This position involves the implementation and oversight of online giving campaigns, peer-to-peer solicitations, written and email appeals, and the active recruitment of new volunteers and donors

Key Responsibilities

Annual Giving Oversight:

Lead the strategic planning, execution, and management of general annual giving efforts that benefit the Ellis Fund.

Collaborate with the Director of Advancement and Alumnae Engagement to set and refine short-term and long-term goals for the Ellis Fund.

Increase constituent participation in giving, ensuring alignment with the School’s mission and vision.

Campaign Management:

Develop, manage, and execute a variety of giving campaigns, including online initiatives, peer-to-peer solicitations, and direct mail campaigns.

Oversee the writing, design, and execution of annual direct mail campaigns, typically three per year.

Draft additional solicitation communications, including email appeals and other outreach efforts, in collaboration with the Director of Advancement and Alumnae Engagement.

Parent Engagement:

Serve as the primary point of contact for parent donors within the Advancement Office.

Lead the Ellis Fund Parent Drive, creating and managing an engaging parent-giving campaign focused on peer-to-peer solicitations.

Identify and recruit Ellis Fund Parent Ambassadors for peer-to-peer solicitation efforts and provide them with the necessary materials, training, and ongoing support to ensure their success.

Ensure accurate tracking of giving data for use by Ellis Fund Parent Ambassadors and other stakeholders.

Event Management:

Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of the annual Spring Her Forward event, working closely with the parent volunteer committee to ensure its success.

Serve as the primary contact for event volunteers, offering guidance and support throughout the planning and execution process.

Recruit and steward corporate sponsors, manage the online auction, and collaborate with the Marketing department to create promotional materials that align with the School’s brand.

Ensure appropriate recognition of corporate sponsors and complete follow-up reporting post-event.

Faculty/Staff Giving:

Foster a culture of giving within the School by building relationships with faculty and staff, explaining the importance of their participation, and soliciting contributions.

Required Proficiencies:

Software: Asana, GiveCampus, GiveSmart, Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Raiser’s Edge, and Raiser’s Edge NXT
