FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Overview:

Redeemer seeks a Marketing Director to build and lead integrated marketing efforts that drive measurable outcomes-most critically, increased enrollment and retention. This individual will craft compelling stories, manage cross-channel communication, while also supporting the overall visibility and engagement of both the congregation and school within the Austin community.

The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and a tactical doer-capable of setting priorities, executing high-impact campaigns, and measuring performance across touchpoints.

This role requires collaboration between multiple teams, most often with the Senior Pastor, School Administration, Enrollment Manager, Creative Designer, and Director of Communications.

Purpose:

The Marketing Director serves as an external-facing strategic leader and hands-on executor, responsible for driving school recruitment and retention through data-informed and mission-driven marketing activities as well as growing Redeemer's congregation through community awareness and event publicity. This role blends brand leadership, inbound marketing strategy, and day-to-day execution to grow Redeemer's visibility and impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

School Recruitment & Retention (Primary Focus)

• Develop and implement a comprehensive external marketing strategy to increase student enrollment and retention.

• Create and manage annual recruitment campaigns, including open houses, school tours, and community outreach.

• Partner with school leadership to produce promotional content, advertisements, and digital content tailored to prospective families.

• Monitor and analyze enrollment trends, adjusting strategies as needed.

• Collaborate with director of preschool on events to retain current Pre-K students into Kindergarten as well as elementary students to transition to middle school.

• Data management: Track notes on communication and progress in a timely fashion using the Redeemer enrollment management system

Digital & Traditional Marketing:

• Manage the school and congregation websites to ensure they are up-to-date, compelling, and the school site is optimized for enrollment.

• Own the social media presence for the congregation and school, including strategy, content development, scheduling, and engagement.

• Design and coordinate production of printed materials such as brochures, flyers, newsletters, and signage.

• Create and distribute regular email communications using platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.

• Implement growth-driven marketing tactics across paid, earned, and owned media channels.

• Develop campaigns that target Redeemer's numerous constituencies including congregation members, school parents, faculty and staff, grandparents, alumni, donors and friends as well as the greater Austin community.

Event Marketing & Support:

• Promote key events such as open houses, fundraisers, and community outreach initiatives.

• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure successful event branding and communication.

• Photograph and capture video at events for use in promotional materials and social media.

Church & School Communication:

• Maintain consistency in external messaging and branding across all church and school platforms.

• Assist in writing and editing newsletters, bulletins, announcements, and reports.

• Serve as a liaison between church and school leadership for coordinated messaging and strategy.

• Storytelling - Tell the Redeemer Story through effective writing and spoken communication.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• 5+ years of marketing, communications, or related field.

• Prior experience in school marketing, admissions, or development work highly preferred.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a passion for storytelling.

• Proficiency in website content management systems, social media platforms, graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite), and email marketing tools.

• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns with measurable results.

• Alignment with the mission and values of a Christian community.

Preferred:

• Church Membership and Attendance

o Current member of Redeemer's congregation or willingness to join Redeemer's congregation

o Current active member of another Christian church or denomination

About Redeemer:

Redeemer is a congregation of 1500 members, a school of 300 families with 550 students, served by a team of 130 full and part-time employees. This full-time position supports all of Redeemer's ministries with the goal of recruiting more students to the school families to the congregation so that they may grow in their faith and join the Redeemer community in Following Jesus Together.

Since 1953, Redeemer has partnered with families to raise the next generation of Christian leaders. Located in north central Austin, what began as a small church on a dirt road on the outskirts of town, has grown to be the largest Lutheran Church and School in the city of Austin. Redeemer is dedicated to serving the people of Austin for many years to come.
