Associate Director, Technology and Data
Salary Range
$95,000 - $112,000
Job Summary:
Associate Director, Technology and Data is responsible for ensuring secure and stable operations of the organization’s IT infrastructure and leading the strategic direction and implementation of technologies and a robust data strategy that enable the organization to achieve its business plan. Reporting to Sr. VP, Marketing & Technology, this role will oversee the organization’s technology systems and overall technology delivery in partnership with internal teams and external vendor partners.
Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
Lead the strategic direction and implementation of technology to ensure systems align with business needs and enable strategic goals, collaborating with senior leaders across the organization and introducing innovative technologies to solve business needs
Oversee GCF's core technology systems and overall technology delivery as a technical expert in partnership with internal team members and vendor partners
Create a data strategy and practice to enable a robust, clean data set for consistent reporting, data-driven decision-making, improved operational efficiencies, and cross-functional collaboration
Manage IT projects, budget, and technology vendor partners
Act as subject matter expert in emerging technology trends and evaluate their potential application at GCF
Manage the deployment of technologies, employee training/support and IT guidelines (data practices, AI usage, etc.)
Ensure data security and compliance
Required Skills/Abilities:
Technical & Strategic Leadership:
Experience aligning technology with organizational strategy
Ability to lead data and digital transformation initiatives
Strong understanding of enterprise technology systems (ERP, CRM, network, data management, AI, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, etc.)
Technology & Systems Expertise:
Proficiency/Experience in managing and integrating ERP and CRM systems
Experience with data management, analytics, and AI-driven solutions
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure (hardware, software, cloud solutions, network security)
Familiarity with nonprofit/philanthropy/community foundation technology platforms
Security, Compliance & Risk Management:
Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection regulations
Experience implementing IT governance, policies, and compliance measures
Risk assessment and mitigation strategies for IT operations
Vendor & Budget Management:
Proven experience managing IT vendors, contracts, and service providers
Ability to evaluate and negotiate technology solutions
Budget planning and cost optimization skills
Innovation & Emerging Technologies:
Awareness of emerging technologies (AI, automation, cloud computing, cybersecurity trends)
Ability to assess and implement new technology solutions that align with organizational goals
Stakeholder Communication & Training:
Strong ability to translate technical concepts into strategic operational recommendations for senior leadership
Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience in staff training, IT literacy programs, and user support
Project Management and Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Experience leading IT projects from conception to implementation
Strong organizational and change management skills
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
3+ years of experience in IT leadership roles, preferably in nonprofit or philanthropic organizations
Experience working with cloud-based solutions
Certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), ITIL (IT Service Management) and data analytics are a plus
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
