Nasson Health Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center with clinical sites in Springvale and Biddeford, Maine. We serve York County and neighboring communities through provision of fully integrated medical, dental and behavioral health care.
Medical Record Specialist
40 hours/week; 52 weeks/year
The Medical Record Specialist works collaboratively with a team of health professionals to provide comprehensive health care services to all patients while utilizing the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care delivery. The Medical Record Specialist role is vital to the maintenance of the Health Centers hybrid medical record system which incorporates paper documentation, electronic health documentation and utilization of health information exchange databases to evaluate health information and accurately maintain an electronic medical record.
Duties:
Manages and Maintains hybrid medical record system.
Retrieves Medical records as requested by healthcare providers, patients, and authorized personnel.
Responds to requests and prepares for the submission of medical records requests from external entities, such as attorneys, insurance companies, and government agencies.
Ensures the accuracy, completeness and confidentiality of patient information, as well as the compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Complies with all applicable federal, state, local and YCCAC/Nasson statutes, regulations, rules, protocols and procedures governing the practice of medicine and the clinical provision of primary care services, personnel issues, work place safety, public health and confidentiality.
Qualifications:
Must possess an associate degree in medical assisting, medical records or health care related field preferred.
Minimum of three years’ experience working in a health care setting.
Familiarity with medical terminology and diagnostic and procedure codes.
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of standard office software and an electronic health and practice management systems.
Actively practices strong written, oral communication and organizational skills to attend multiple tasks, prioritize time sensitive tasks and ensure compliance with established deadlines and protocols.
Works effectively as part of a team and supports integration of medical, behavioral health and dental services.
Must show proof of immunity or have been immunized for MMR, Hep B, Influenza (required annually) and the COVID primary series.
