JOB SUMMARY
The Electrical Programmer is responsible for improving the quality and efficiency of the transformer design process. The duties of the position are centered on incorporating design practices or specifications into computer automated design processes. The Electrical Programmer may be required to write or assist in writing specifications in collaboration with others in the engineering team. The individual will need good technical writing skills to develop and maintain design practices or specifications prior to incorporating these practices into computer programs. This individual will need a good working knowledge of object-oriented programming languages and data storage methods.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate with the design engineering team to identify defects in the design process
Document technology in design practices
Participate in standardization of best practice between facilities
Incorporate technology into computer programs
Install and maintain computer programs in collaboration with I.T. functions
Resolve problems and simplify processes while working with others towards mutual goals
Remain current with the industry in the arena of programming and data management
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Excellent process and problem solving skills
Highly proficient in mathematics with the ability to document mathematic models
Having a strong foundation in the basic tenants of programming methods
Adept at listening and collaboration with engineering experts
Strong data collection and analysis skills
Proficient in Microsoft Word
Proficient with Microsoft Excel as a tool for benchmarking processes
Expert in Microsoft Visual Studio and Visual Basic, “VB.NET”. Beneficial to have experience with “ASP.NET”, Python, and VBA inside of Excel
Data storage and retrieval methods including working with XML and databases
A strong command of the English language
Ability to write clear and concise instructions including the ability to document mathematical processes
An excellent team player with strong people skills; able to build relationships at all levels of the organization
Effective communication skills, including verbal (logical and organized), written, and listening
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required Education / Experience
BS degree in computer science or as a minimum an associate’s degree in computer programming with focus on high level languages
Preferred Education / Experience
Training or experience with Microsoft Visual Studio
Training or experience in the VB.NET programming language
