Eckerd College is currently seeking candidates for the position of Tax and Financial Analyst. This opportunity entails joining our Accounting and Finance team, situated at our waterfront property along the picturesque Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida. In this role, you will support external and internal financial reporting and compliance requirements of the College. This position requires discretion and judgment and is responsible for handling a variety of confidential and time sensitive materials. You will perform various accounting and financial reporting functions, prepare the College’s tax filings, and prepare audit work papers, as well as other financial and/or compliance reports as necessary.

The Tax and Financial Analyst demonstrates an active knowledge of current federal, state, and local tax laws and codes and the ability to research applicable codes, statutes, and industry-specific guidance and effectively communicate and apply findings. Basic knowledge of research techniques, proficiency with Excel, and familiarity with enterprise software systems, preferably Banner, is also necessary. The incumbent must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive communications.

Key Responsibilities

Prepares and/or directs the tax compliance process of Forms 990, 990-T, F-1120, 5500, W-2's, Sales and Tourist Taxes, 1099Misc, 1099-R, 1098-T and 1098-C's.

Assists in coordinating external audits related to tax compliance processes.

Leads in the resolution of tax issues affecting departments and the College as a whole, including IRS, Florida Department of Revenue inquiries/notices.

Monitors procedures for tax compliance of foreign activity, including foreign visitors on campus and faculty/staff working abroad.

Obtains and maintains sales tax exempt certificates in Florida and other states.

Maintains responsibility for the College's annual charitable solicitation registrations.

Assists as needed with all aspects of financial, payroll and human resources as they may affect tax reporting, tax return preparation, benefit plans and other compliance matters.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; two to four years of professional experience in a tax and/or financial analyst role.
