Job Description

Join our team at a dynamic steel company where you'll be repurposing incoming products. This role involves working in various areas of the facility, including laser cutting, water jet cutting, shipping, receiving, grinding, saw cutting, and more. Candidates must be flexible to train on day shifts and work either 2nd or 3rd shift. You will handle materials using forklifts or overhead cranes, build custom pallets for shipping, and perform tasks such as loading/unloading trucks and removing steel from racks.

Responsibilities

Operate a forklift and overhead crane to move materials.

Participate in packaging by building custom pallets.

Load and unload trucks at receiving docks.

Remove steel from racks and place on machines using overhead suction cups, cranes, forklifts, etc.

Cut material and prepare it for shipping.

Learn and grow in various areas of the facility.Essential Skills

Previous forklift operation experience.

Experience with overhead crane usage.

Ability to use a tape measure down to 1/16th of an inch.

Capability to consistently lift and move 75 lbs.

Experience in steel or water jet/laser operation.

Experience with micrometer, caliper, and gauge usage.Work Environment

Our mid-sized steel company focuses on heat-resistant and corrosion-resistant metal supplies. The brand new facility is extremely clean, well-lit, spacious, and safety-driven, hosting a team of 70-80 employees. We operate three shifts: 7a-3p, 3p-11p, and 11p-7a. Candidates must be open to working 2nd or 3rd shifts after training on the first shift, which can last from two weeks to two months. Required PPE includes hard hats, steel-toe shoes, arm guards, and ear protection in certain areas. Until uniforms are provided, employees can wear jeans and t-shirts, with a t-shirt provided upon hire.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Maumee, Ohio.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
