Medical Records Assistant- we’re willing to train, come join our team!
Position Summary:
Assists in maintaining patient/resident medical records and health information systems in accordance with current federal and state laws, regulations and company policies.
Qualifications:
High School Graduate or equivalent experience
Minimum of 6 months office experience or preferably Healthcare/hospital environment with general knowledge of how to collect and protect patient information
Working knowledge of medical terminology and/or medical record experience preferred
Proven computer and typing skills
Outstanding communication (written and verbal) skills
Presents a professional/positive image and can remain kind, calm and professional in all work related or stressful situations
Knowledge of Point Click Care (PCC) preferred
Responsibilities:
Clerical responsibilities including answering phones, setting up files, scheduling, documenting, etc.
Assists the Director of Medical Records and/or Administrator as directed
Retrieves, reviews, protects and provides patient/resident records
Follows up with incomplete records, returning to appropriate department for corrections
Responds to requests for medical records ensuring they are accurate and on time
Assembles, collects and edits medical records as needed
Maintains a record of authorized information released from charts/records
Tracks and stores active and inactive medical records in accordance with company policy
Protects files in accordance with HIPAA standards
Assists in recording/filing/reporting on all incidents/accidents
