Financial Controller

Job Description

Work directly for a Somerset County, NJ area manufacturer of plastic packaging products .

Financial Controller:

Duties/Responsibilities:

* Manage and direct all plant activities involving cost accounting and general accounting (payroll, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, Gl, etc.)

* Responsible for month-end closing process and preparation of financial statements.

* Support external Financial Statement Review and tax return preparation as required.

* Create and monitor internal control procedures and processes.

* Prepare annual budget and monthly budgets.

* Perform income and balance sheet analysis - compare to budget, identify trends and competitor analysis.

* Act as liaison with off-site accounting firm to ensure seamless communication of financial position.

* Build relationships with relevant commercial finance contacts.

* Work closely with other departments on development of annual strategic plan financials, annual, quarterly & monthly budgets.

* Manage and control capital spending projects.

* Maintain and update standard product costs as necessary for all items manufactured in facilities.

* Provide management with meaningful cost, variance, and forecast information.

* Be an active member of leadership team providing timely updates, challenging assumptions, ensuring appropriate understanding of financial processes and performance.

* Special projects as assigned by management.

Education/Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree, preferably in accounting/finance fields

* Previous manufacturing experience required.

* 8 + years' experience.

* Supervisory experience

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong emphasis in Excel

* Ability to adapt to custom software programs.

* Excellent time management, organizational, problem-solving, analytical and communication skills required.

* Canada transaction experience is a plus
