SUMMARY
We are a Michigan based private investigation agency focusing on criminal defense and civil litigation support. We seek an experienced, detail oriented Investigative Paralegal to review legal documents, manage discovery materials, and coordinate case investigation logistics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review and draft subpoenas, Request for production of documents, FOIA requests, affidavits, and investigative reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain case management databases; track exhibits and witness interviews.
• Perform basic OSINT / record searches; compile findings for investigators and attorneys.
• Liaise with attorneys, courts, law enforcement agencies, and field investigators.
• Prepare timelines, summaries, and hearing packets.
• Occasional travel for witness contact or court filings (mileage reimbursed).
QUALIFICATIONS
• Paralegal degree / certificate plus 5+ years law office experience in criminal defense or civil litigation.
• Strong and demonstrable legal research & writing skills; impeccable grammar and citation format.
• Strong knowledge of criminal and civil legal processes.
• Advanced MS Office / Google Docs.
• Familiarity with use of generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot).
• Michigan resident with valid driver’s license & reliable transportation.
• Must be a commissioned Notary Public in Michigan.
• Some overtime required; may be asked to stay late or work some Saturdays.
• High level of discretion with confidential or sensitive information.
• Must pass background check and sign NDA pursuant to MCL 338.840.
COMPENSATION
$24.00 – $28.75 per hour DOE&A (1099 contractor – no benefits).

We seek a highly experienced, detail oriented Investigative Paralegal / Administrative Assistant to support our investigators through thorough review of legal documents, managing case materials, and by coordinating case investigation logistics. This role is central to the firm’s investigative operations and provides critical support for a wide range of case types, with a primary focus on criminal defense investigations conducted for multiple Public Defender’s Offices in Michigan's Thumb region, Middle, and Southeastern counties. Additional casework includes civil litigation, due diligence, asset location, and law enforcement officer pre- employment background investigations.
