Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programmer

Location: Bensenville, IL

Compensation: $100,000–$130,000+ (Depending on Experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time Direct Hire Flexible Schedule

A well-established precision manufacturing company in the Chicagoland area is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Programmer to join its machining division. This is a high-priority, fast-track hire to replace a recently vacated role—offering the chance to step in and make an immediate impact.

This is not a production-line environment. You'll be part of a tight-knit engineering and machining team in a job shop setting focused on stainless steel components for OEMs in the food, pharmaceutical, packaging, and environmental sectors. You’ll be responsible for taking jobs from quoting and planning all the way through to CNC programming and floor support.

Key Responsibilities

Program CNC lathes (Mazak and DMG Mori) using Mastercam, G-code, and Mazatrol conversational programming.

Plan job routings and workflows based on customer BOMs and specifications.

Support quoting efforts for new projects by interpreting prints, BOMs, and estimating machining times.

Troubleshoot programs on the floor and collaborate with machinists to ensure efficient and accurate production.

Create and manage 3D models using Inventor or SolidWorks as needed.

Select appropriate tooling, inserts, and fixturing for stainless steel parts.

Utilize ERP/MRP systems to support job planning and execution.

Ideal Background

5+ years of CNC programming and manufacturing engineering experience in a job shop environment.

Strong proficiency with Mazak lathes, including Mazatrol conversational and G-code programming.

Extensive experience programming with Mastercam for turning operations.

Familiarity with live tooling, sub-spindles, and Y-axis milling on CNC lathes.

Proven experience machining stainless steel components.

Ability to interpret GD&T and engineering documentation.

Proficiency in Inventor or SolidWorks for CAD modeling.

Strong problem-solving and floor support skills.

ERP/MRP system experience preferred.

What Makes This Opportunity Unique

Diverse Work: You’ll handle quoting, job planning, programming, and troubleshooting—a well-rounded and impactful engineering role.

Specialized Focus: Approximately 80% of the work involves stainless steel, requiring precision and expertise.

Collaborative Team Culture: Work in a transparent, emotionally intelligent environment where people are supported and encouraged to grow.

Long-Term Stability: Many team members have been with the company 10 to 20 years.

Flexible Schedule: Standard hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with some flexibility to accommodate work-life balance.
