The Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center (GRC) seeks a leader to serve as our Director of Quality Improvement Science. This position reports to the Centers director and is responsible for advancing GRCs expertise in quality improvement (QI) science, developing strategic partnerships, and enhancing workforce training to improve population health outcomes.
The Director of Quality Improvement Science will be tasked with leading the Centers QI Science strategy, staff, and projects. This includes directing managers, staff, and projects for the Quality Improvement section of the organization; recruiting, hiring, and training managers and staff; working with senior staff to set organizational goals, define priorities, and execute short and long-term strategic plans; working with other GRC managers to coordinate staff allocations across projects; effectively communicates mission and goals and sets organizational priorities to staff; establishes direction and delegation of efforts to build collaborative relationships among academic and health policy leaders to identify shared priorities and implement research and policy initiatives to drive the administration of Ohio's health care programs and policies; coordinating the activities of researchers, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors assigned to projects; and establishing training programs, coaching initiatives, and frameworks for integrating QI methodologies into various projects.
The director will be responsible for developing and expanding GRC workforce capabilities by integrating new technology, analytic strategies, and other methods to advance QI science. Additionally, the role involves enhancing patient and community engagement by developing strategies that integrate lived experiences and measure patient-centered outcomes.
The director will foster collaboration with healthcare leaders, including Colleges of Medicine (CoMs), medical associations, and clinical partners, to advance QI initiatives. Strengthening partnerships with state agencies and engaging with entities such as ODH, ODM, ODCY, and DODD to align efforts for population health improvement is essential. The role also involves diversifying GRCs funding portfolio, leading grant applications, and identifying new revenue sources.
Additional responsibilities will include advancing QI research and dissemination by publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals and launching a monthly newsletter to highlight project outcomes and policy changes. The director will also lead strategic planning efforts to expand GRCs impact in maternal and child health, behavioral health, and community health factors. Additionally, the director will support new project start-ups and development by managing teams of investigators, project directors, and researchers is an essential part of the role.
Minimum Education Required:
Bachelors degree or equivalent is required.
Required Qualifications:
A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
Additional Desired Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include having at least 15 years of leadership and institutional management experience in academia, government, or related non-governmental organizations. A strong record of organizational development, leadership, and project management is essential. The ability to lead project management teams and strategically align initiatives with organizational goals is crucial. Candidates should possess a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Additionally, strong interpersonal and communication skills are necessary for engaging diverse stakeholders.
