SUMMARY
Working under the direction of the Humane Education Coordinator & PIO, incumbent manages all aspects of fundraising functions including but not limited to creating, coordinating, planning, and executing all current and future fundraisers; apply, manage, and report on all grants; Handles donor relations including entering incoming donations and creating donor appeals. The incumbent is expected to exercise good judgment, independence, initiative, and professional expertise in conducting day-to-day tasks. All work duties and activities must be performed in accordance with the City safety rules and operating regulations, policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local regulations.

Planning/JUDGEMENT
Develops strategies to generate non-general fund resources through donations, grants, planned giving, and or agency fundraisers;
Develop and maintain lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with current and potential sponsors, donors, and other contributors;
Develops and executes strategies to recruit more monthly donors including but not limited to cultivating relationships to encourage qualified charitable distributions (QCD); this may include speaking at company donor engagement events, etc.; Fiscal responsibility
Plans, budgets, coordinates, projects potential revenues, and manages all existing and future fundraisers;
Presents an annual budget for the department fundraisers to the Animal Care and Control Commission for approval. Provides monthly reports on the expenditures and revenues of all fundraisers, direct mail campaigns, or other fund development efforts. Provides financial and statistical reports to the Director to support funding requests if new opportunities for fund development are sought;
Applies, secures, and manages grant opportunities; Information/Communication
Coordinates with Humane Education Coordinator & PIO to approve content of bi-annual newsletter generated through direct mail company or in-house;
Creates direct mail campaigns and coordinates with Humane Education Coordinator - PIO to manage content, edit, and approval of appeals and prospect mailings;
Develops creative, rewarding, cost-effective communication tactics for our diverse giving pools and prospects;
Coordinates with Humane Education Coordinator & PIO, and Community Outreach Educator on messaging for marketing outlets pertaining to promotion of donations, grants and/or upcoming fundraisers/events; MANAGEMENT/OPERATIONS
Creates and maintains database of corporations, foundations, governmental entities, etc. with an interest in animal welfare;
Maintains and grows monthly giving program by implementing stewardship tactics that keep recurring donors engaged and motivated to increase their giving;
Researches new partnership and fundraisers based on staff input of priorities, short and long-term departmental plans, and or as opportunities arise;
Works closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to ensure fundraisers are properly staffed with qualified volunteers. MARGINAL FUNCTION

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Incumbent in this position does not directly supervise any employees but may be responsible for assigning volunteers to assist incumbent with fundraising events.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree with major course work in fund development (preferred), marketing (i.e. digital, social media, advertising),, philanthropy or related field;
Required skills and abilities as a proven fundraiser with success in growing annual giving campaigns, and creating and implementing large fundraising events;
Experience writing and managing both government and foundation grants preferred, minimum of 2 years' experience managing grants and events;
Self-starter with the ability to work independently and monitor performance objectives to meet goals and deadlines;
Strong data management skills
Proven analytical, organizational, and planning skills;
Outstanding interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills;
The ability to work with and motivate diverse individuals and groups;
Knowledge of and experience with donor software programs, event platforms, Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, e-mail, internet skills, and social media outlets.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, donors, Animal Control Commission members, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
