Job Duties

The Licensing Inspector is responsible for reducing risks to children in child care facilities through the promotion and support of improved quality of care and enforcement of state licensing laws, regulations, and evaluation of standards of practices. This position monitors and provides regulatory oversight by evaluating applicants, conducting inspections, and investigating reports of alleged noncompliance and alleged illegal questions. This is a multi-hire posting with 2 open positions.

This position is a mobile employee with 100% telework. If a state vehicle is not available for business use, there may be times when you would be required to provide your own transportation.

This is a RESTRICTED POSITION which is solely funded by federal funds. The availability of funding is scheduled for review regularly. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of federal funds.

Minimum Qualifications

a. Knowledge of developmental, social, emotional, health/medical needs of children served in regulated programs.

b. Skill in working effectively within difficult and hostile situations to provide quick responses and resolve problems.

c. Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

d. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, both orally and in writing, and work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.

e. Ability to operate basic office and mobile computer systems/programs.

f. Knowledge of evidence collection practices and analysis techniques.

Additional Considerations

- Demonstrated knowledge in human services, public administration, child development, or related practice field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience is an additional qualification.

- Experience preparing for or conducting facility licensing inspections.

- Experience as a program director in child care.

- A valid driver's license.
