Job Description
Oversee all aspects of maintenance to ensure cost effective reliability throughout the mill operations. Ability to demonstrate mill reliability improvement via key metrics. Ability to oversee projects for implementation and oversee projects from concept to completion within financial and time budgets.
Key Responsibilities:
Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance
Understands and implements safe designs, safe work practices, and safe work environments
Collects, interprets process data by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Uses information to improve mill reliability and productivity
Be liaison between mill operations, engineering, and maintenance in order to optimize production and efficiencies
Coordinate with Corporate Engineering on projects and system reliability
Evaluates the performance of systems to determine best option for replacement or improvement
Oversees root cause analysis investigations for system failures
Oversees projects from concept to completion to improve the reliability and productivity of the mill
Be a resource for design activities including equipment sizing, design of PFD’s and P&ID’s, loop sheets, E/I diagrams, process control and instrument specification
Develop strategic 3-to-5-year plans and budgets for maintenance and reliability
Oversee development and execution on predictive and preventive maintenance programs for key operational elements
Ensures all maintenance activities meet quality standards with respect to workmanship, processes and procedures in order to deliver plant quality targets and machine reliability
Works on preventative and breakdown maintenance and generates appropriate reports
Conducts risk assessments on operations and capital projects
Establishes controls for costs by ensuring competitive bid packages, monitoring expenditures, administering contractor contracts, and managing contactors
Establishes and oversees project schedules by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems
Coordinates with mill department managers, planners, and engineering team on reliability, maintenance, and capital projects
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, participating in professional societies
Networks with colleagues on processes, projects, and best in class practices
Hold team accountable and conduct individual performance development reviews
Effectively partner in a union, labor environment representing the site. Includes solid partnership, conflict resolution, diplomacy and people management skills.
Skills and Education:
5 years of management experience on Paper Machine
5 years of reliability experience (Pulp/Paper manufacturing preferred)
Engineering Degree or Bachelor in Manufacturing or Paper & Pulp preferred
Possess strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills. The ability to achieve results by influencing others and supporting the overall business.
Experience with managing maintenance activities including creating, planning, scheduling, executing and documenting work orders
Experience building and managing a strong reliability program
