Description

The Department of Nursing at Methodist University if seeking applicants for a full time, non-tenure-track, 12-month position to begin August 2025.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining clinical affiliation agreements and clinical agency requirements, coordination and clinical placement of nursing students, and supervision of clinical adjunct faculty. The clinical coordinator will also have responsibilities in didactic and clinical teaching. Additional responsibilities include advising students, participation in program evaluation and improvement plans, participation in departmental and school faculty meetings, service on nursing and school committees, and demonstration of a willingness to support the Department of Nursing Program’s mission and goals. All faculty positions have additional expectations for scholarship as well as university and community service.

The Methodist University Department of Nursing Program is housed within the College of Health Science and Human Services which has other programs in Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work and Kinesiology. The Nursing Program is accredited by the CCNE and is approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.

Qualifications

Master of Science in Nursing required and a current unrestricted license or multistate licensure privilege to practice as a registered nurse in North Carolina. Clinical expertise of two years full-time required. Knowledge and ability in current nursing care, nursing procedures, and related technology. Must have outstanding organizational skills, effective communication, and interpersonal skills. Previous experience teaching clinical in a Registered Nursing or higher program is desired. Current American Heart Association certification in BLS-Health Care provider. Must be able to demonstrate expertise through performance of a teaching demonstration.

Required prior to or within the first three years of employment, have education in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation, appropriate to faculty assignment. This preparation may be demonstrated by one of the following:

completion of 45 contact hours of Board-approved continuing education courses;

completion of a certificate program in nursing education;

nine semester hours of graduate course work in adult learning and learning principles;

national certification in nursing education; or

documentation of successful completion of structured, individualized development activities of at least 45 contact hours approved by the Board. Criteria for approval include content in the faculty role in the curriculum implementation, curricular objectives to be met and evaluated, review of strategies for identified student population, and expectations of student and faculty performance.
