Job Description
The Supply Chain and Logistics Manager is responsible to provide leadership in Bill of Materials (BOM) Management, Inventory Management, procurement activities and material flow and the management of finished goods, packaging, shipping, and customer inventories related to our product deployments. You will develop and execute strategies within a lean environment. You will be responsible for both tactical daily execution of material procurement availability, and material flow, as well as longer-term sourcing strategies along with overseeing the logistical aspects of getting finished product to customers and managing associated inventories. This individual will focus on developing supply chain agility and providing the necessary information flow for optimal material availability while also ensuring efficient outbound logistics and accurate tracking of deployed products and customer-held inventory. The successful candidate will develop key relationships both internally cross-functionally with operations, accounting, finance, quality, engineering, as well as externally with suppliers and shipping/logistics partners.
Responsibilities include:
Establish and maintain accurate BOMs, proactively identifying global sourcing options for components to optimize cost, quality, and lead times. Develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with a global BOM.This includes strategies for both raw materials/components and finished goods.
Develop and implement inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels across potential global warehousing locations, considering international shipping logistics, customs regulations, and lead times to ensure efficient material flow.
Manage relationships with contract manufacturers on a global scale, focusing on material procurement, inventory management at their facilities, and overseeing production schedules to ensure timely delivery and quality adherence. This excludes direct design-side management but emphasizes the supply chain aspects of these partnerships.
Lead the identification, qualification, and onboarding of global vendors for BOM components. Develop and implement robust global supply chain strategies, including risk assessment, alternative sourcing, and performance monitoring of international suppliers.
Collaborate with internal teams to identify and assess potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain supplier relationships.
Maintaining proper inventory levels for both raw materials and finished goods.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of materials and components used in our products.
Implement and maintain purchasing policies and procedures, ensuring strict adherence to ethical standards, quality management and regulatory requirements
Conduct supplier quality audits in accordance with the quality management system and working closely with the quality team
Streamline purchasing processes, identify inefficiencies, and successfully conduct innovative solutions to enhance productivity
Review purchase requisitions, place orders with approved suppliers, and prepare necessary documentation.
Anticipate delays and coordinate recovery plans to meet schedules.
Run and evaluate supplier performance.
Oversee and manage finished product inventory levels.
Develop and execute strategies for efficient and compliant product packaging and shipping, including selection and management of logistics partners.
Implement and manage systems and processes for tracking system deployments to customers.
Develop and maintain systems for tracking and managing customer-held inventories.
Collaborate closely with Sales and Customer Support teams regarding product availability, shipment schedules, and customer inventory needs.
Qualifications
Required skills/qualities/experiences:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing or related field.
5+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management,with demonstrated experience in logistics, shipping, and inventory management of finished goods.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
Proficiency in procurement software, inventory management systems, shipping platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
Experience with 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485
Knowledge of manufacturing process, materials, and supply, as well as packaging and shipping logistics.
Position is located in greater St. Louis, MO or Santa Clara, CA, must be willing to relocate
Preferred skills/qualifications
10+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain management
Experience with Class II or Class III medical devices
Experience in early-stage startups
Able to accomplish objectives with minimal supervision
