Senior Roadway Project Engineer

The Role
As a Senior Roadway Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading design activities on a wide range of transportation projects. You will oversee a team of engineers and designers, providing technical direction, quality control, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget. Success in this role means bringing both technical proficiency and strong leadership to guide the design process from concept to completion, ensuring excellence in deliverables and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Lead the technical roadway geometric design for transportation projects, coordinating across disciplines
Oversee and perform preparation of plans, models, calculations, cost estimates, and technical reports
Manage project work plans, track budgets, assign design tasks, and monitor progress
Conduct quality control reviews and ensure deliverables meet client standards
Engage in technical writing for proposals, specifications, and project documentation
Support business development efforts, including assisting on transportation project pursuits
Interpret and apply engineering data, specifications, and regulatory standards to projects
Foster a collaborative, proactive team environment, promoting innovation and problem-solving
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in roadway design and civil engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in current state of practice, with ability to obtain Arizona licensure within 6 months
Proficiency with Bentley (ProjectWise, MicroStation, OpenRoads) and/or Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) platforms
Demonstrated ability to lead design teams and manage geometric design, earthwork modeling, maintenance of traffic, and quality reviews
Strong project management skills, with experience tracking scope, schedule, and budget
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with teams and clients
Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability under company policies
Nice to Have
Experience with business development or marketing in the transportation sector
Familiarity with both InRoads/OpenRoads Designer and Civil 3D platforms
