About this Opportunity:

The Business Unit Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial health of Evolution Motion Solution’s Midwest business unit located in Auburn Hills, MI. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, drives budget and forecast processes, supports strategic decision-making, and ensures compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards. The Business Unit Controller is a hands-on finance professional with strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of business operations and foundational accounting skills.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Lead the financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes for this business unit.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and variance analyses.

· Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to business leaders.

· Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting policies.

· Partner with operational teams to analyze cost drivers, margin performance, and profitability.

· Evaluate and support business decisions, investments, pricing strategies, and process improvements.

· Insure accurate and timely costing of large customer projects.

· Collaborate with corporate finance teams on consolidation, reporting, and audit processes.

· Provide leadership and direction to a team of financial professionals.

· Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, systems, and reporting.

· Responsible for multiple locations within the region, some travel required.

· Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Evolution Motion Solutions is headquartered in Farmers Branch, TX with additional offices in TX, UT, AL, AZ, MT, OK, MA, MI IN, IL, OH and Canada. This position will be based out of our Auburn Hills, MI facility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, skills and/or abilities required. An individual must meet the minimum requirements as listed in each Qualifications subsection.

EDUCATION:

· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.

· CPA, CMA or MBA preferred

EXPERIENCE:

· 7 + years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including experience in a controller or senior financial analyst role.

· Experience managing staff in day-to-day activities and driving a winning, positive culture.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and internal controls.

· Listen actively; respond well to questions; communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and maintain confidentiality.

· Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.

· Combination of strong accounting knowledge with excellent financial/analytical skills.

· Proven ability to work cross-functionally and influence business decisions.

· Cost accounting skills/experience preferred.

· Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines.

· Experience in P21 software is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The work is sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting or standing to perform the work. There may be some movement from area to area to transport items weighing no more than 15 pounds. Physical tasks include walking, grasping, carrying, lifting, assembling, listening, writing, speaking, and traveling.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the primary duties of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to a manufacturing and general office environment. Work outside normal business hours is possible and some travel is required.
