Join Our Team at NT4 Ortho-Urology Surgical Unit!

Position Highlights:

Number of Beds: 41

Patient Population: Our 41-bed unit specializes in the care of acute ortho and urology surgical patients. We are DNV certified for hip and knee replacement surgeries, catering to limb trauma patients and low acuity medical cases. As a level trauma center, we admit most regional trauma patients here.

Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:4-6

Department Culture: North Tower 4 is a dynamic, fast-paced unit that thrives on collaboration with physical and occupational therapists. With an average patient stay of just three days, you’ll witness the entire recovery journey. Our team is dedicated to providing the best and safest care, and our patients appreciate the positive reassurance they receive from us. Resources include a full-time educator, part-time educator, 2 nurse supervisors, a manager, and charge nurses.

Skills & Equipment: You’ll frequently use Wound Vacs, JP drains, Buck’s tractions, external fixators, lift equipment, orthotic devices, chest tubes, Foley/IV/Mediport insertions, and more!

Relocation Assistance:

$5,000 for moves over 100 miles

$2,500 for moves over 50 miles

BSN Bonus: $2,500 for nurses with 1+ years of experience (External Applicants)

Qualifications

License/Certifications:

Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)

Education:

High School Diploma/GED; Associate's Degree

Other Knowledge/Skills:

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Ability to adapt and learn in a fast-paced environment

Your Responsibilities

As a vital member of our team, you will:

Perform all responsibilities and duties specific to the unit’s scope of service.

Implement procedures and maintain accurate documentation of nursing care.

Conduct initial assessments upon patient admission and develop tailored care plans.

Modify care plans based on continuous evaluation and patient needs.

Ensure patient and employee safety by addressing hazards and incidents.

Communicate effectively with colleagues to resolve issues and enhance professional development.

Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, and medication management.

Coordinate care with physician and surgeon partners.

Manage wound appliances and assist with ortho traction setups.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $33.68 - $57.93 per hour. This range reflects a good faith minimum and maximum for the role at the time of posting. Actual compensation will depend on various factors, including experience, qualifications, and shifts worked.
