Join Our Team as a Comprehensive Medical Physicist!

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the field of medical physics? At Carle Foundation Hospital, we are seeking a Comprehensive Medical Physicist to join our dynamic team in Radiation Oncology, Interventional Radiology, and Hospital Radiation Safety. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with radiation oncologists and interventional radiology staff to ensure the safe and accurate delivery of therapeutic ionizing radiation.

Your Responsibilities

As a Comprehensive Medical Physicist, you will:

Perform essential medical physics tasks to support our four hospital units:

Carle Cancer Institute: Oversee quality control for all three linear accelerators in the radiation oncology department.

Interventional Radiology: Provide physics support for Y-90 radioactive therapy for patients with liver metastases.

Hospital Safety Department: Collaborate with the radiation safety officer to implement comprehensive radiation safety measures.

Neurosurgery Department: Ensure proper therapy for patients with brain tumors using Gamma Tile Cs-131.

Conduct radiation measurements and analyze data from therapeutic and diagnostic x-ray machines.

Verify dosimetry calculations performed by dosimetrists and technologists.

Perform radiation therapy treatment planning and QA procedures on all medical radiation devices.

Maintain and oversee the Radiation Safety Committee, including scheduling and creating meeting minutes.

Qualifications & Requirements

To thrive in this role, you should possess:

Educational Background: A Doctorate in a related field.

Licensure/Certification:

Certified Specialist in Therapeutic Radiology Physics - American Board of Radiology (ABR)

Registered Therapeutic Radiation Physicist - Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)

Experience: A minimum of 1 year in a relevant position.

Specialized Skills: Proficiency in taking and analyzing radiation measurements.

Compensation

The compensation range for this position is $87.45 - $150.41 per hour. This range reflects our commitment to offering competitive salaries based on experience, qualifications, and other relevant factors.
