Concordia University Chicago, an NCAA Division III intercollegiate athletic program and member of Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) seeks a candidate for (1) Graduate Assistant Certified Athletic Trainer.
The graduate assistant certified athletic trainer works under the direct supervision of the head athletic trainer and in conjunction with Concordia University Chicago athletic department to supervise the care of student athletes competing in the University's athletic program.
The graduate assistant certified athletic trainer will provide prevention, treatment, documentation and rehabilitation of injuries within the University's comprehensive sports medicine program.
Management of athletic injuries and illnesses Evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries Provide counseling and education to student athletes Athletic training administrative duties Supervision of student workers Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes Maintain positive communication and relationships with CUC athletics and academics Assist the Head Assistant Athletic Trainer with special events, including summer camps and weekend events Travel with both male and female teams as directed Ability to work independently and maintain a schedule Skill Sets: Ability to interact effectively with all persons involved in the sports and athletic training programs at Concordia University Chicago, as well as, with colleagues from various institutions and the general public.
Competency in computer skills.
Ability to mentor student-athletes in sports medicine issues.
Ability to work independently and maintain an assigned schedule Ability to mentor student-athletes in their Christian faith.
Education Requirements: Requirements for this position include all of the following: a Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training from a CAATE accredited athletic training program; admission into Concordia University Chicago graduate program; certification by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification (BOC); State Athletic Training Licensure; and CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
This position also requires the candidate to have the ability to work nights and weekends, familiarity with NCAA Division III rules and regulations, and a willingness to support the Mission and Core Values of Concordia University Chicago.
